Sustainable management of wetlands in Lípez

The bofedales are wetlands considered native grasslands, they contain large quantities of water and their importance lies in their ability to provide water, minerals and shelter for wild animals. Taking this into account, this project seeks to contribute to the sustainable management of bofedales as sources of water and organic matter reserves, in the Lípez region, in the municipalities of San Pedro de Lípez and San Antonio de Esmoruco in the Department of Potosí, Bolivia. The initiative plans to carry out a biophysical inventory, understand botanical relationships, estimate the biomass production capacity and animal carrying capacity in local systems under conditions of socio-ecological and climatic pressure.

Objective:

Contribute to the sustainable management of wetlands as sources of water and organic matter reserves, by establishing a biophysical inventory, understanding botanical relationships, estimating biomass production capacities and animal carrying capacity in local systems, under conditions of socio-ecological and climatic pressure.
