Maximizing Opportunities in Coffee and Cocoa in Mesoamerican Countries

Maximizing Opportunities in Coffee and Cocoa in the Americas (MOCCA) is a seven-year USDA-funded initiative implemented by a consortium of partners including the Regional Cooperative Program for Technological Development and Modernization of Coffee Growing (PROMECAFE) and TechnoServe. This project seeks to support coffee and cocoa producers to improve their productivity, marketing, and ability to make their plots profitable and renew them. This will be achieved through training, technical assistance, strengthening of commercial links, increased research and improved dissemination of its results, strengthening of suppliers of genetic planting material, access to short-, medium-, and long-term financing, support to institutions in services that facilitate R&R, and the strengthening of PROMECAFE.

Main theme:

Strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of the coffee production sector by strengthening productivity, research and coffee institutions in countries in the Mesoamerican region, with emphasis on the countries where the MOCCA project operates (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Peru).
