AQUATOOL

AQUATOOL is a decision support system for modeling and managing river basins. Using different modules, it allows users to simulate water distribution, quality, risks, and infrastructure operation. It is a flexible tool that is widely used in basin plans in Spain and various other countries.

AQUATOOL is a decision support environment developed by IIAMA-UPV for the planning and management of river basins. It allows water resource systems to be represented graphically and their behavior to be simulated under different scenarios, incorporating aspects of water distribution, quality, risks, and environmental and economic impacts. Its modular structure (SIMGES, OPTIGES, SIMRISK, GESCAL, among others) makes it flexible enough to address everything from the operation of reservoirs and aquifers to water quality assessment and uncertainty analysis. It has been widely used in the development of basin plans in Spain and in numerous countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, establishing itself as a benchmark tool in both professional and research fields.
